About Us

Rasa is a landscape architecture studio dedicated to building ecological, cultural and artistic urban spaces. Our work asserts the landscape as an art form, shaping everyday spaces and making unforgettable places. We design cities, public spaces, landscapes, green infrastructure, and art installations that enrich our world. We are strong advocates for the value of landscape, equipping leaders in design, policy and community with the tools they need to build a  more sustainable and climate ready future.

Rasa has heart. We strive to find the essence of every project as a part of our design approach. Every project is special and has something unique that we uncover as part of our unique design process. We are experts at working alongside you and your team to spark creativity and find opportunities to integrate nature into cities in new ways.

Our multidisciplinary team combines expertise in architecture, landscape design, planning, and public art to create innovative and comprehensive design solutions. By breaking down the boundaries of traditional practice we have expanded the idea of what a landscape can be. With over three decades of collaborative experience, and by working on projects across the globe, our team has the power to transform cities and public spaces in exciting ways.

Matthew is a leading voice in landscape architecture, known for bold ideas and a sharp artistic eye. His work spans a variety of notable projects, including hospitality and entertainment destinations in New York, multiple hotel and resort projects in Miami and the Middle East, and notably the landscape design for The Tianjin Juilliard School.

Matthew’s love of drawing started early and naturally evolved into a career in design. An early mentor, James Wines of SITE, instilled in him the power of art-driven landscapes. From there, he worked with Rem Koolhaas’ OMA / AMO in Rotterdam, developing a research-based installation centered on CERN. As the former Design Director at MSP, Matthew led large and complex projects around the globe. He has brought this experience and expertise to Rasa, weaving ideas of art and landscape seamlessly to create spaces that are expressive, memorable, and distinctly alive. Matthew is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects licensed in New York, Rhode Island, Colorado and Florida.

As both a registered architect and landscape architect, Tim approaches each project with a multidisciplinary perspective.  He thrives where typical areas of expertise overlap, allowing him to lead large projects with equal parts play and pragmatism. Known for his collaborative energy, he is as comfortable sketching big ideas as he is navigating budgets, politics, or the realities of zoning and construction. That range allows Rasa to lead ambitious projects with confidence, whether close to home or across the world.

Tim brings that same excitement to the classroom as an Instructor at Drexel University, where he leads studios and teaches seminars that focus on integrating architecture, landscape and ecology into urban settings. He is licensed in New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont, and is an active member of the American Institute of Architects and the American Society of Landscape Architects.
